Abstract
Objective: This study tried to examine the effect of cognitive therapeutic exercise on hand muscular strength in stroke patients.

Methods: The subject of this study selected 19 persons according to the selection criteria and they were divided into two groups. The subject group that cognitive therapeutic exercise was applied for 12 weeks carried out it for 30 minutes three times per week and the one that general occupational therapy was applied carried out for 30 minutes 5 times per week. The evaluation method about the hand muscular function used the Manual Function Test(MFT) and Jamar Hand dynamometer.

Results: The pegboard performance abilities and the hand muscular strength before meditation were measured and then compared and analyzed. The comparative result of change before and after meditation of cognitive therapeutic exercise and occupational therapy did not statistically show the significant one in implementation of pegboard(p>0.05). But it statistically showed the significant result after meditation of cognitive therapeutic exercise in the hand muscular strength(p<0.05).

Conclusion: The effect of cognitive therapeutic exercise is shown in improvement of the hand muscular strength of stroke patients and this study is thought to be provided as the basic material of cognitive therapeutic exercise.
